A STORMING START TO 2010
We kicked off the New Year with unbelievable turnouts at the Syndicate on NYE and our Free for the People event at Trees. We then held a special charity Retro event recently at Medicine in Middlesbrough when we raised just under £2000 for Help for Heroes. This weekend was the dogs with Lovefunky doing the business and Retro selling out at Havana in Wakefield and the usual great crowd at Fusion in Burnley quashing the rumours going round that the club had shut down. A storming start indeed!
We are all excited at the prospect of our new move into Mezz Club in Leeds this coming Saturday, it is a larger more sumptuous gaff with two rooms (Retro in one, Lovefunky in the other) and a gorgeous mezzanine VIP area which has great views over the main room. Team Retro will be out in force this Saturday.
The following weekend sees our welcome return to Tall Trees (Sat 13 Feb), there should be supposedly plenty of love in the air as everyone celebrates that iffy event called Valentines (or not). Me, I just don’t believe the hype surrounding this futile event, no one tells me when to send chocolates, flowers or love messages to my partner, I can do that any day of the year! Let’s change it right round and instead have a national day dedicated to the Love of Classic House. Now we’re talking so let’s get right on it, that is absolutely something that us MUSIC lovers could and should rejoice about!
We are all buzzing in Retro Towers about the very near future as we speed towards the launch of the new all singing and dancing Retro web site. We are designing it so that you can download live mixes from our venues, listen to Retro Radio, watch Retro TV and loads of exciting new features to discover including a mint new gallery section with links to all your favourite social network sites. Updates on the new Retro Radio show will follow soon it will be aired every Saturday night (7 till 9) and will be available to listen live or anytime you wish via the new site.
Full information regarding the launch date will follow over the next few weeks, we can’t wait for the big day.
